The Diamond Valley Arts Council will hold its 5th Annual Festival of the Arts at the Esplanade Arts Center the weekend of October 15 – 17, 2010. The theme is simply “100” in recognition of the City of Hemet’s one hundredth birthday.

This year the festival will be a combination of the traditional elements of previous festivals along with some new, and we think you will agree, exciting features. The festival will continue to showcase artists through a juried show representing several categories of artistic expression. This year we are introducing Musical Performance in addition to the categories of 2D and 3D Visual Art, Photography, Poetry, Short Stories, and One-Act Plays. Entry requirements for all categories can be found on the Submission Requirements page. Top award winners of our first Annual Student Arts Recognition Awards will also be announced during the festival.

Completely new this year will be an event for the whole family to enjoy. We are calling it “100 Pieces”. Individuals will be able to create their own small piece of artwork which, when combined with other “tiles”, will create a mosaic mural. Also planned are chalk art, pottery and other demonstrations.

The festival will begin with a cheese, fruit and wine reception from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Friday, October 15th plus a preview showing of the art exhibition. This will be followed at 8:00 PM by a special performance of “A Streetcar Named Desire” by Inland Stage Company.

Tickets for the Friday reception and performance are $25 per person. Saturday/Sunday admission is included. Seating is limited so make your reservation soon. Admission for Saturday/Sunday is just $5.00 per person. The Esplanade Arts Center is located at 2181 W. Esplanade Ave. (at the corner of Sanderson Ave.) in San Jacinto (map). Saturday/Sunday admission is FREE with paid DVAC membership—membership Application Form.
